Highlighting a few books coming out this week:

Seattle-based author with a book focused on enjoying and finding beauty in age and the aging process.

Set in the pacfic NW and very atmospheric, this book could be considered historical fiction but also has magical speculative elements — and a slice of horror. Beautifully written!

this is a story of a friendship where one friend seems to effortlessly have it all and one DECIDEDLY does not. So it’s about relationships, friendship, dating… But it’s also about how we measure and try to quantify success.

The Mad Book Club

We meet the last Thursday of every month at 6:30pm at Parlour Wines (although holidays do tend to cause slight date changes, so please double check exact dates below). All readers are welcome and you don't need to sign up in advance. We try to have multiple copies of the book club’s monthly pick available in the store beforehand.

For the second half of 2025, we will be doing a literary wander through the U.S. Southeast. Our books and meeting times are below:

July 31: Sing, Unburied Sing, Jesmyn Ward

August 27: Gator Country, Rebecca Renner (changed from August 28 to accommodate a concert in the park.)

September 25: Warriors Don’t Cry, Melba Beals

October 30: Memphis, Tara M. Stringfellow

November 20: Kindred, Octavia Butler

December 18: The Sweetness of Water, Nathan Harris
